The following sites are of interest to people working in the IT industry.
Please note that a listing does not constitute a recommendation.

	Department For Children Schools and Families	This is a government site. Replaces the Department for Education and Skills. You can use it to find out about training opportunities. There are also useful links to Government statistics on the labour market and the general economy.
	The Institute for the Management of Information Systems	The Institute for the Management of Information Systems exists to promote and support the professional use, application and management of Information Systems. It offers advice and support on keeping skills up to date
	Contractor UK	Lots of useful advice for contractors in the UK and lots of links to interesting sites. There is also the results of a survey of contractors showing agency margins and giving a breakdown of rates. This is derived from contractors in work rather than job adverts (yes, the results agree with the figures shown here).
	SJD Accountancy	UK wide firm of accountants specialising in IT Contractors
	Parasol IT	Parasol IT provides umbrella company services to contractors working in all industries. They claim that they are cheaper than the competition but I can't confirm (or deny) that.
	Contractor Umbrella	Umbrella Company providing umbrella services for UK Contractors.
	Computer Weekly	some resources from Computer Weekly for people looking for a job
	Shout99	"a contractors news page" was my original comment but it has improved markedly since then and is now a very interesting site and well worth a visit.
	The Professional Contractors Group (PCG)	The Professional Contractors Group is a professional trade organisation set-up to represent the interests of all knowledge based workers. It was formed originally as a pressure group to lobby against IR35 but it has moved on to act as a voice for contractors in all areas.
	Computer Contractors Benefit Organisation	Independent advice on legal, business and financial matters of interest to small IT businesses, it also operates group medical, occupational benefit and indemnity schemes for its users.
	Freelance UK	Website with help and advice for UK freelancers.
