| Jobserve |
This is my prefered site for job vacancies.
They have the biggest selection of job vacancies and
excellent search facilities to help you find your way around.
You can get regular mail of jobs matching skills that
you specify.
I have used the email of job vacancies for several years
and it comes up with a reasonable
match of my skills. A minor grumble is that the email sometimes
doesn't arrive until late
morning and on very rare occasions it doesn't arrive at all.
The site has been updated recently. There aren't loads of banner
adverts and animated gifs and applets slowing access
down and there are loads of jobs which is the idea after all. |
| Jobsite |
Jobsite advertise over 28,000 IT permanent and contract IT jobs a week
(as of 2nd August 2000). They offer a full range of nightly filtered
jobs-by-email, CV writing and storage, and online application services.
A research company (RM S MediaTech) reckons Jobsite to be the fastest and
easiest to use online recruitment site. I visited the site and searched
for a few topics and it was fast and came back with a good selection of
jobs. |
| TechnoJobs |
A good selection of jobs, a search engine and a jobs-by-email service |
|
PlanetRecruit IT |
PlanetRecruit is a general-purpose job site which I don't usually feature here ('cause they're generally hopeless
for IT jobs) but the special IT section has a reasonable selection of IT jobs - worth a look. |
| totaljobs |
totaljobs is a general-purpose job site which I don't usually feature here ('cause they're generally hopeless
for IT jobs) but the special IT section has plenty of IT jobs and the other parts of the site are fairly interesting.
They also offer a jobs-by-email service which is always useful. |
| Silicon |
I knew Silicon first as a news organisation but they have a job advertising section too.
This has a good selection of jobs and the site is quick to download and easy to use.
When I searched they came back with a good selection of jobs matching my skills.
You can get daily email of news headlines from the
IT industry with links back to the main articles on their web site. |
| Computer Weekly |
This site is produced by the weekly paper of the same name and has a good range of job
adverts and a search engine to help you find relevant jobs. They aren't the biggest
but they claim that they're the best.
They have a few gimmicky features such as a salary checker. Don't be fooled - the higher paid
jobs often don't mention the salary whereas public sector and academic ones often do. Nor does
it give ranges of rates and it doesn't split up contract and permanent rates. Also - they have
revamped the site and last time I tried the salary checker it crashed my browser. Maybe they've
improved it recently - if so let me know. |
